From corn to cleaner hands - sustainability at every step

We take leftover corn cobs and make them a sustainable ingredient in our hand cleanser — smart for both you and the environment.

From corn to cleaner hands - sustainability at every step

Thinking sustainably and resource-efficient is a matter of course for us at Sterisol. By using upcycling, a process where residual materials are given new life in new products, we are taking another step towards a more circular economy. In our hand cleaner SUPER, we use corn cob residue as a natural friction agent — a smart and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic abrasives.

Why corn?

Corn is a renewable raw material that also leaves behind residual products, such as corn cobs, which often go to waste. By using these leftovers in our hand sanitizer, we take something that would otherwise have become waste and give it a new purpose. In addition, corn cob residues are naturally degradable and gentle on both the skin and the environment.

Advantages over plastic flakes and other materials

In the past, plastic flakes or microplastics were often used in hand cleaning products to create friction and remove dirt. The problem with plastic is that it does not break down in nature and contributes to microplastic pollution in our oceans and bodies of water. By replacing plastic flakes with corn cob residues, we ensure that our product is efficient, but at the same time environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Residual material becomes a resource

By reusing residual materials instead of creating new waste, we contribute to a more circular production. Corn cob granules are a by-product that would otherwise have been discarded, but which in our hand cleaning takes on an important function. It is a concrete example of how we take waste and give it a new purpose — an important part of our sustainability philosophy.

Sustainable and smart — a matter of course for us

For us, sustainability is not about making occasional efforts, but about constantly finding smarter and more environmentally friendly ways to develop our products. Using corn on the cob residue in SUPER is just one of many ways we are working towards a greener future — where effective solutions and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
